Diablo 2 MF Magic Find Guide Ratio Drops

This is how it works: notice at the top is says item/name/baal/mephisto etc.

then under it lists items and numbers. The number is how many runs it takes to find that item from that boss. zero means you cant. and of course its only averages, so you can find any of those items in 5, or it may take up to 50,000 runes.

when looking at an item, match the number across with the boss at the top. so the third number listed after each item would be pindleskin.

Basically its the average run from the boss to drop the item use control F to find the item you are looking for

E.G.
Alma Negra to find it on average from baal it would take an average of 1810 runs to find Alma Negra, 2086 runs from Mephisto to find Alma Negra, 21435 runs to find Alma Negra from Pindleskin and so on...

Diablo 2 How to run multiple d2s without the use of 3rd party programs

Step one, install diablo with 1 set of cd keys if you havent already done this.

Step two, Copy all contents of your diablo directory into another folder in your Program files folder, ie: diablo 2, d2, dii, anything thats not diablo ii.

Step Three, uninstall diablo ii. (only the one in the original diablo 2 folder, not the new one)

Step four, re-install diablo ii with different cdkey set, save into the normal directory that you had it in previously (diablo ii)

Step five, Switch accounts and run either of the folders in -w mode (to do this, rightclick on the shortcut icon on your desktop for diablo ii, and add -w (with a space before it) at the end of the line that says "target:")

Step six, switch back over and run the opposite folder in -w mode, and there you have it two diablos running at once with no hacks whatsoever

basically on windows when you first get your CPU you have an administrator's account. so every time you log on you go directly there.

now if you go to control pannel there should be a section called user accounts. you need to create a new account on your CPU. this also allows other people from going into your stuff.

so basically say on the administrator's account you have the full screen diablo version. on the 2nd account you have the windowed version.

now basically once you open one diablo switch accounts not log off otherwise it will close diablo onto the administrator's/secondary account. then trade this way. to summarize:

create a new account on your CPU -> turn on diablo on one of the account -> switch accounts by going to log off then switch users -> go open the second diablo and mule/perm etc.

you must switch users a lot in order to mule/perm. if this doesn't make sense I am sure someone else can clarify this.

Diablo 2 Realm Down FAQ Guide 1.12

Realm Down
QUOTE (battle.net)
This ban will last from five minutes up to forty-eight hours. Note that this is dependant on your past banning habits and the severity of the reason banned. Multiple logon attempts will worsen your ban. Check after ten minutes, then every half hour afterwards. After 24 hours, hourly checkups are safe.

the new realm down message as of .11
(IMG:http://img316.imageshack.us/img316/8458/screenshot0040ni.jpg)

If you have realm down, it could be for any of the following reasons:

  • Creating games too fast.

  • Joining and Leaving games too fast.

  • Switching characters too fast.

  • Using hacks.

  • Any number of other reasons, including doing absolutely nothing.

To remove Realm Down, there are a number of ways. However, not every way listed here is expected to work for everyone. Some may not work for anyone. These are simply ways that have been posted.

If you have a different way, please PM me and I will add it.

Method #1:

  • Go to Start.

  • Click on 'Run'

  • Type in 'cmd' and press enter.

  • Type in 'ipconfig /release all'.

  • Type in 'ipconfig /renew all'.

  • Create an IP address (Doesn't matter what numbers it is, easiest to just type in 1 and 2 until it's filled up.)

  • Press 'Tab' and it should automatically fill in the 'Subnet Mask' section with default numbers.

  • Hit the 'OK' button.

  • Hit the 'OK button again.

  • Right-Click on 'Local Area Connection' and go to 'properties' again.

Chance to hit

100 * AR / (AR + DR) * 2 * alvl / (alvl + dlvl)
AR = Attack Rating; alvl = Level of Attacker; dlvl = Level of Defender; DR = Defense Rating

Note: Attacks will never have less than 5% chance to hit nor more than 95% chance to hit.

Final chance to hit is truncated.

Example

I have an AR of 10,000. I am lvl85 (attacker) and the Defender is lvl90 with a defense of 5000

= 100 * AR / (AR + DR) * 2 * alvl / (alvl + dlvl)
= 100 * 10000/ (10000 + 5000) * 2 * 85/ ( 85 + 90)
= 1000000/(10000 + 5000) * 2 * 85/(85 + 90)
= 1000000/(15000) * 2 * 85/(175)
= 1000000/(15000) * 2 * 85/(175)
= 66.667 * 2 * 85/175
= 133.333 * 85/175
= 11333.333/175
= 64.761% chance to hit.

Base Attack Rating

(Your attack rating without +AR or +Ar% from equipment, charms or skills)

= (Dex * 5) - 35 + ClassBonus

The ClassBonus is:

20 for Barbarians and Paladins
15 for Assassins
5 for Amazons and Druids
-10 for Necromancers
-15 for Sorceresses

Example

Any lvl Necromancer with 200 Dex.

= (Dex * 5) - 35 + ClassBonus
= (200 * 5) - 35 + (-10)
= (1000) - 35 + (-10)
= 965 + (-10)
= 955AR

Base Defense Rating

(Your Defense rating without Defense, +Def or +Def% from equipment, charms or skills)

= Dex / 4 (rounding down)

Example

Any lvl char with 179 Dex.

= Dex/4 (rounding down)
= 179/4 (rounding down)
= 44.75 (rounding down)
= 44

Chance to cause Knockback

Vs. large (eLarge): 32/128 = 25%
Vs. small (eSmall): 128/128 = 100%
everyone else: 64/128 = 50%

Open Wounds

Damage per frame:
Clvl=1-15: ((9*Clvl+31)/256)) * Modifier
Clvl=16-30: ((18*Clvl-104)/256) * Modifier
Clvl=31-45: ((27*Clvl-374)/256) * Modifier
Clvl=46-60: ((36*Clvl-779)/256) * Modifier
Clvl=61-99: ((45*Clvl-1319)/256) * Modifier

Modifier:
Triggers on a Player with attacker using a Melee Attack: 0.25
Triggers on a Player with attacker using Ranged Attack: 0.125
Triggers on a Boss Monster with attacker using Ranged or Melee: 0.5
Trigger on Other Targets with attacker using Ranged or Melee: 1

Open Wounds has a duration of 200 Frames (8 Seconds) and will reset the timer if reapplied. It's not actual damage but a Negative Life Regenration.

E.g:

Lvl80 Char using melee attack on a normal monster (Other Target)
Clvl=61-99: ((45*Clvl-1319)/256) * Modifier
= ((45*80-1319)/256) * 1
= ((3600-1319)/256)
= (2281/256) * 1
= 8.91015625 * 1
= 8.91015625 Damage per Frame.

For Damage per second, do (Damage per frame * 25)

8.91015625 * 25
= 222.75390625 Damage per second.

Diablo 2 Energy Shield Sorceress Sorc Explained Guide Build 1.12

Introduction
This small FAQ gives answers to all relevant knowledge needed to understand Energy Shield and its synergy Telekinesis.
Q: What does telekinesis do for energy shield?
A: Energy shield takes 2 points of mana for every point of life it absorbs. Each point you spend in telekinesis reduces this by 0,0625 point. This means that after 16 points you’re only losing half the mana compared to zero points, or one mana per absorbed life. At 20 points you’re only losing 0,75 mana per absorbed hit point.
Q: So if you get a level 32 telekinesis you’re losing no mana through energy shield?
A: No, it only works with actual invested points, so level 20 (1:0,75) is the limit.
Q: How much damage can energy shield absorb?
A: It’s capped at 95%, which is at skill level (slvl) 40. After that only the duration of energy shield increases.
Q: What is the energy shield bug?
A: It doesn’t exist. This ‘bug’ you might’ve heard about, is simply an intended change from blizzard. This change is that energy shield is now applied before resistances, meaning your mana gets drained four times as much as it used to with maxed resistances. Telekinesis doesn’t totally make up for this, but it helps.
Q: Is energy shield applied before the PvP penalty?
A: No. This is good since this means 6 times less mana draining.
Q: How do I calculate damage taken to mana and life with energy shield?
There’s a formula for that:
Damage to life = InitialDamage*(W/100)*(1-X/100)*(1-Y/100)*(1-Z/100)
W = PvP penalty (for most, if not all attacks 17%)
X = % resistance (or damage reduction in case of a physical attack)
Y = % chance to block (in case of a physical attack or blockable elemental attack)
Z = % energy shield
Fill in zero if you have zero resistance or block or damage reduction.
For example if you take 12 000 damage hit from a fire ball when dueling another sorceress with maxed telekinesis, resistances and 95% (max) energy shield:
Damage to life = 12 000*0,17*(1-0,75)*(1-0)*(1-0,95) = 25,5 life lost
For damage to mana another formula can be used:
Damage to mana = Damage*(2 – 0,0625x)*(W/100)
x = slvl telekinesis
W = pvp penalty
Take the same example as above, with the fire ball hitting:
Damage to mana = 12 000*(2-0,0625*20)*(0,17) = 1530 mana lost
Q: Is damage to mana % effective in combination with energy shield?
A: No. Since damage to mana is now subtracted from the actual damage you take, in our fire ball example, it would take (1500/25)*100 = 6000% damage to mana in order to restore the lost mana. The higher your energy shield gets, the less you benefit from %damage to mana.
A formula for this is:
Damage to mana/Damage to life*100 = Amount of DmgToMana% needed to fully restore lost mana
Q: Is Energy shield viable?
A: Yes, this build is very powerful in both PvM as in PvP, the main problems are getting enough damage output, and mana burn monsters in PvM.
Q: I don't get all this math, in simple language, what can ES do for me?
A: It can absorb 95% of all damage you take, given that you can keep your mana high enough. Your lost life will be very minor, but your mana takes heavy beat. Telekinesis helps reducing the cost of mana.
Q: Does energy shield absorb all attacks?
A: No, it doesn't absorb poison and open wounds. There's also reports of a bug where it doesn't absorb charge either.

Diablo 2 Smiter Smiterdin Paladin Smite FAQ 1.12 Build Guide

What works with Smite version 1.12
The following things work with Smite:

- Bonus damage from STR (each point of STR adds 1% ED) (new for 1.10)
NOTE: Bonus damage is *not* based on the weapon type (e.g. for daggers each point of DEX adds .75% ED along with a similar bonus for STR).
- +Skills (increase damage a LOT)
- Crushing Blow (including CB on the weapon; e.g. "Black" runeword)
- Weapon range (Thanks to Talamek for verifying this in 1.11)
- Weapon speed (see below)
- Life Tap (charges can be found on wands and daggers, save this for tough spots)
- Freezes Target (Exile)
- Hit Blinds Target
- Slow
- % Chance to cast
- Prevent Monster Heal
- Open Wounds (new for 1.10)
NOTE: Open Wounds does *not* work when a monster is at full health. This means that, if you are Smiting an undamaged Physical Immune, Open Wounds won’t take effect and you cannot rely on this method to kill a Physical Immune

The following things work with Smite but do *not* display on the Character screen:

- Enhanced Damage which is off-weapon
Note: The %ED actually does *sort of* display. Each 100% ED increases damage displayed by 1.

The following items increase the shield damage: Redeemer, Astreon's Iron Ward, Stone Crusher, "Grief" runeword

- Damage +X, which is the attribute that the above items have, is added directly to the shield damage just like the Holy Shield bonus. This means that any %ED bonuses which work with Smite will apply (e.g. Fanaticism).

The following things do not work with Smite:

- Leech (life/mana)
- Deadly Strike/Critical Strike
- Knockback
- Elemental damage from equipment or charms
- Elemental damage from auras (e.g. Holy Shock)
- Poison damage from charms
- Magic damage from Sanctuary
- Gear and charms that add a set amount of damage except for those items which have the Damage +X attribute
- Enhanced Damage on the weapon
- Enhanced Damage to Demons

Smite speed is dependent on:

- Base weapon speed (odd but true)
- % EIAS from Fanaticism
- IAS in gear

- 6 frame Smite is the fastest possible

Diablo 2 FAQ 1.12 guide

Q: Do lightning rainbow facets work on traps?
A: NO. Traps are minions, therefore they will not receive either bonus, +% dmg or -res, even though it will have no effect, it will still show up in the character screen.

Q: How much MF should I aim for?
A: There isn't a particular amount of MF that is perfect. The more MF you have doesn't necessarily guarantee you will find better items, just more magic items. Therein, adding MF does not make you find better items, and will reduce your killing speed.

Q: What auras do different Act 2 Merc give?
A: refer to this guide
Combat (Normal): Prayer
Combat (Nightmare): Thorns
Combat (Hell): Prayer
Defense (Normal): Defiance
Defense (Nightmare): Holy Freeze
Defense (Hell): Defiance
Offense (Normal): Blessed Aim
Offense (Nightmare): Might
Offense (Hell): Blessed Aim

Q: What are "permed" items?
A: "Permed" items are items that will not 'poof', or disappear. They are items that are from 1.09 or earlier, and are almost guaranteed not to disappear. Items that were duped in 1.10 tend to poof. Beware of people claiming their items are "permed" as people like to try to do this to make you pay more for their item, when in fact, it isn't permed at all, and will poof. Only trade for "permed" items from trusted members.

Q: How can I "perm" my item?
A: There is no known way to completely perm an item. There are temporary perms that will keep your item from poofing until you enter the next game. Although these methods are not proven, these are believed to be working methods. However, you must do these when you leave every game:

Method #1: Initiate trade with another person. Quickly exit the game without saying or doing anything right after you go to the screen.

Method #2 (Different Form of Method #1): Initiate trade with another person. Put the item or items that you wish to perm into the trade screen. Quickly exit the game without saying or doing anything right after you go to the screen.
